Introduction of the euro in Croatia

Introduction of the euro in Croatia

On  1 January 2023, Croatia adopted the euro as its currency, thereby becoming the 20th member state of the eurozone. This was the first expansion of the monetary union since Lithuania joined in 2015. The euro replaces Croatia's national currency, the kuna. Euro coins with Croatian national motifs are minted by the Croatian Mint. In order to adopt the euro, Croatia had to fulfil a set of economic conditions including having a stable exchange rate and low inflation.
These illustrations show the use of euro coins and notes in Zagreb, Croatia, in January 2023.
