Visit of Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission to Switzerland
On 16 and 17 January 2023, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, went to Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum.The 53rd edition of the forum held from 16 to 20 January 2023, under the theme 'Cooperation in a Fragmented World' addressed immediate economic, energy and food crises while laying the groundwork for a more sustainable, resilient world. On this occasion, Ursula von der Leyen delivered a speech during which she spoke of the unwavering EU's support to Ukraine in Russia's invasion of Ukraine; EU's dependency on Russian fossil fuels and its price fluctuation; the net-zero transformation; transatlantic trade. She also spoke on the Green Deal Industrial Plan and its four key pillars: the regulatory environment, financing, skills and trade.
