Participation of Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, in the Brussels special European Council
On 9 and 10 February 2023, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, attended the Special European Council in Brussels, Belgium chaired by Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and with the special participation of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine.The Council adopted conclusions on Ukraine, the economy, migration and other items, covering the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria. On the war of aggression in Ukraine, they discussed the EU response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the restrictive measures against Russia, the accountability of perpetrators, the peace, recovery and reconstruction, the EU support to Ukraine. They also discussed Ukraine’s EU accession process, the economic situation in the EU, the green deal industrial plan for the net-zero age, the capital markets union, the trade agenda, migration with a focus on increased external action, the effective control of external borders, and internal aspects.
