Live events are generally covered in the original language plus simultaneous translation into all EU languages when available. Occasionally other languages are provided through additional audio channels as and when required. The original (international) audio sound is transmitted when a particular language is not available.
Some more technical retransmissions, such as Commission Midday’s press briefing, are only in French and English. News footage and video stockshot material are broadcast with natural sound only.
Always refer to the EBS schedule for a list of the languages available for each transmission.
Very few satellite TV channels have multiple audio channels and it is possible that certain satellite receivers may behave in an unpredictable manner. If your receiver is not performing as expected, please email us.
