Press conference by Olivér Várhelyi on a revised methodology for the European Union accession process

On 5 February 2020, Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, gave a press conference on a revised methodology for the European Union accession process.

This new methodology sets out the Commission's proposals to strengthen the EU accession process. It aims to make the enlargement process more credible, predictable, dynamic and subject to stronger political steering. This will reinvigorate the accession process and make it more effective, enhancing credibility and trust on both sides.
