On 25 September 2025 in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly, Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, attended the High-level meeting on Women, Peace and Security, in New York, United States.
Discussions focused on empowering women as leaders in defense, peacekeeping, and security sector reform, and ensuring their perspectives guide transitional justice, reconciliation, and reconstruction. Participants highlighted international collaboration, including EU-Morocco initiatives, and stressed protecting women from conflict-related violence while strengthening humanitarian support. The meeting also emphasised the importance of engaging men alongside women to achieve lasting peace. The EU reaffirmed its commitment as a major donor and peacekeeping contributor to promote gender-inclusive security globally.
