Inauguration of the European flag
Jacques Delors, President of the CEC, Pierre Pflimlin, President of the European Parliament, Carlo Ripa di Meana, Member of the CEC in charge of Institutional Questions, People's Europe, Information and Communication Policy, Culture and Tourism, and Charles Rutten, Dutch Permanent Representative to the EC, representing the Presidency of the European Council, participated in the ceremony to inaugurate the adoption of the European flag. The flag owes its existence to a 1983 European Parliament resolution and the recommendations of the ad hoc committee "A People's Europe", which were then adopted by the 1985 European Council of Milan.
