This annual event is part of the EU’s celebrations surrounding Europe Day on 9 May, when the EU commemorates the Schuman Declaration of 1950. The European institutions opened their doors to citizens, for them to discover how these institutions are affecting their lives, by taking part in special activities, such as public debates and guided tours.
This year, the main overarching communication themes were: the priorities of the von der Leyen II Commission, the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, solidarity with Ukraine, and the 30th anniversary of the enlargement to Austria, Finland, and Sweden. Other anniversaries will also be highlighted, including the 30th anniversary of Schengen.
