On 15 July 2025, Teresa Ribera, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for a Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, participated in a commemoration ceremony to mark the third annual EU Day for the Victims of the Global Climate Crisis in Brussels, Belgium.
Teresa Ribera opened the ceremony with a keynote address. She was followed by Lars Aagaard, Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Antonio Decaro, Chair of the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety (ENVI) of the European Parliament, and citizens affected by the climate crisis represented by Benjamin Van Bunderen Robberechts, Founder of Climate Justice for Rosa and European Climate Pact Ambassador, and Alexandros Kassapis, member of the Youth and Environment Europe (YEE) team. All speakers reflected on the lives lost and destruction caused by the climate crisis and emphasised the need to act now to cut emissions, build resilience and protect people and communities from the impacts of climate change.
The ceremony concluded with a minute of silence and a violin recital by Bartu Elci-Ozsoy, violonist, conductor and composer and European Climate Pact Ambassador.
