European Qualifications Framework – Entry into the labour market

Show transcript

For learners EQF and NQF are quite useful tools for orientation, for example to plan their professional career.

For jobseekers it’s quite important that their acquired qualifications become more visible on European level.

This promotes the mobility on the European labour market.

However to be fully effective the EQF has to be fully implemented in all European Member States.

The EQF can help better categorise individual qualifications in comparison with others,

thereby assisting to plan a career for the future or for additional qualifications,

regardless of whether this is in Germany or in another European country.

The National Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework

have allowed us to design and manage the curriculum in a more open and flexible way

and create processes which include more involvement between our school and private business.

The EQF has actually provided transparency in cross-border qualifications.

The fact that qualifications are defined using the same principles and the same vocabulary

facilitates immensely the recognition of qualifications awarded in different countries.

We have very much welcomed the introduction of the EQF in trade,

as transparency and comparability in industry is very important.

For us as a chamber, it is above all an essential tool when it comes to recognising foreign professional qualifications.
