On 26 September 2019, Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Energy Union and, temporarily, for the Digital Single Market, chaired the European Battery Alliance High-Level Meeting with Ministers and CEOs who have been most actively involved in the Alliance. The European battery industry has been identified as a strategic value chain for the EU in the context of a strengthened industrial policy strategy. Batteries are a key enabling technology and will be essential for decarbonisation of the mobility sector and the transition to a low carbon economy.
