On 19 November 2020, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, participated via videoconference to the High-level Interparliamentary Conference on Migration and Asylum in Europe, chaired by David Maria Sassoli, President of the European Parliament from Brussels.
This Conference, which is to take place under the auspices of the presidents of the European Commission and European Parliament and the German Bundestag, together with the Portuguese and Slovenian Parliaments in the Trio Presidency framework, is intended as the beginning of a broad process of interparliamentary discussion on migration and asylum in Europe. The idea is to flank at parliamentary level the Commission’s proposals for a new migration and asylum package, but also to discuss migration as a whole.
This video shows the keynote speeches given by David Maria Sassoli, Ursula von der Leyen, Wolfgang Schäuble, President of the German Bundestag, Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues, President of the Portuguese Parliament, and Igor Zorčič, Speaker of the Slovenian National Assembly.
