On 16 November 2020, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, gave a statement in Brussels on the order of 405 million doses of a vaccine produced by the European company CureVac.

Once available, proven safe and effective, and authorised at EU level, all Member States will have access to COVID-19 vaccine at the same time, and in the same conditions.

This is the fifth contract with a pharmaceutical company for the EU COVID-19 vaccine portfolio.
