Read-out of the weekly meeting of the von der Leyen Commission by Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, and Virginijus Sinkevičius, European Commissioner, on the Zero Pollution Action Plan
On 12 May 2021, Frans Timmermans, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of the European Green Deal, and Commissioner for Climate Action Policy, and Virginijus Sinkevičius, European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, gave a press conference following the weekly meeting of the von der Leyen Commission in Brussels. They presented the EU Action Plan "Towards Zero Pollution for Air, Water and Soil". This is a key deliverable of the European Green Deal and the main topic of this year's EU Green Week. It sets out an integrated vision for 2050: a world where pollution is reduced to levels that are no longer harmful to human health and natural ecosystems, as well as the steps to get there.
