On 15 June 2021, Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of an Economy that works for People, and Commissioner for Trade, and Katherine Tai, US Trade Representative, reached an understanding relating to large civil aircraft, transforming almost 17 years of disputes into a forward-looking, collaborative platform to address bilateral issues as well as global challenges.
On this occasion, they gave a joint press conference at the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium, where Valdis Dombrovskis stated that with this agreement, the Airbus-Boeing dispute is being grounded. He added that it proves that the transatlantic relationship is moving to the next level, saving billions of euros in duties for importers on both sides of the Atlantic.
