On 10 September 2021, Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, travelled to Tunisia where he met with Kaïs Saïed, President of Tunisia.

Following the meeting, Josep Borrell Fontelles held a press point and expressed the objectives of his visit. On this occasion, he namely stressed the will to determine how to better support and accompany democracy, stability and prosperity in the country.
