On 18 November 2021, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, travelled to Berlin, Germany, where she gave a laudatory speech during the 2021 Henry A. Kissinger Prize Award Ceremony, held at the The Deutsches Historisches Museum.
Every year since 2007, the American Academy of Berlin has bestowed the Henry A. Kissinger Prize to a prominent American or European figure in the field of international diplomacy for outstanding contribution to Atlantic relations. This award honors the achievements of Dr. Henry A. Kissinger – author, Nobel Peace Prize winner, former National Security Advisor to President Richard Nixon, Secretary of State to Presidents Nixon and Ford.
