On 29 November 2021, Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, and Olivér Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, travelled to Spain.
On this occasion, Josep Borrell Fontelles, together with Ayman Safadi, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the 6th Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the 3rd EU–Southern Neighbourhood Ministerial Meeting taking place in Barcelona in the framework of the celebrations of the first Day of the Mediterranean.
The 6th UfM Regional Forum brought together Foreign Ministers of the 42 UfM Member States. Discussions focused on progress made in the five priority areas agreed last year during the 5th UfM Regional Forum: environmental and climate action, sustainable and inclusive economic and human development, social inclusiveness and equality, digital transformation, and civil protection.
This video shows the welcoming remarks by José Manuel Albares Bueno, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, as host of the event.
