On 21 February 2022, Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy, travelled to Spain for a two-day trip in order to participate in the Forum Nueva Economía working breakfast on ‘Challenges and Opportunities of the Clean Energy Transition' and to hold a meeting with Teresa Ribera, Spanish Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.

Following their meeting, Kadri Simson and Teresa Ribera gave a joint press conference on the discussions they had, namely regarding renewable energy deployment, the EU hydrogen strategy, energy prices, and security of energy supply.
