On 28 June 2022, Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, participated in Science for Policy Report on Environment in the Western Balkans' who took place in Tirana, Albania. 

On this occasion, the European Commissioner launched the platform and called the ministers to take full advantage of these events to work together with a view to develop cooperation between the European Union and the Western Balkans.
