On 30 August 2022, Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, chaired the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Defence, held in Prague.

On this occasion, EU Defence Ministers mainly discussed the Russian aggression against Ukraine and its impact on the security of EU Member States, with contributions from senior UN and NATO officials, as well as Members of the European Parliament.
