On 5 October 2022, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, attended the plenary session of the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg, France, on Russia’s escalation of its war of aggression against Ukraine.
The European Parliament called for the Member States to respond strongly to Russia’s escalation of the war and its preparations to annex Ukrainian territories.
