On 1 December 2022, Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, travelled to Poland. On this occasion, he participated in the 29th Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) that took place in Łódź. During the meeting, Josep Borrell Fontelles addressed Russia's aggression against Ukraine; the need for a new security order in Europe post-Russia's actions; EU's support for Ukraine, including a financial contribution for demining through the OSCE; a proposal for supporting the ICC, Ukrainian Prosecutor General, and the creation of a Special Tribunal for Russian war crimes; and he encouraged peace efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
