‘Make the connection with EU-science’ is a series of explanatory videos focusing on the scientific content and exploitation aspects of EU research projects.
How can sunshine push your car further?
Make the connection with EU science.
Mobility is part of everyday life.
Although electric energy is more efficient,
electric cars still don't have the range of petrol driven vehicles
and rely on charging stations
that may not be within reach when you need them most.
Furthermore, the electricity they use
may come with a heavy carbon footprint.
But what if a car could charge itself?
The EU-funded LIGHTYEAR project
has developed the first commercially available solar electric car.
It charges on the move,
achieving a driving range of 725 kilometres
and requires 90% less energy from the grid,
boosting mobility and cutting emissions.
