On 18 April 2023, Valdis Dombrovskis, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of an Economy that works for People, and Commissioner for Trade, and Mairead McGuinness, European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability, and Capital Markets Union, participated in a press conference on the reform of the bank crisis management and deposit insurance (CMDI) framework in Strasbourg, France.

On this occasion, the European Commission adopted a proposal to adjust and further strengthen the EU's existing bank crisis management and deposit insurance (CMDI) framework. This proposition focused on medium-sized and smaller banks.
