On 3 May 2024, Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, travelled to the United Kingdom to deliver a lecture at the University of Oxford.

During this official visit, the Vice-President participated in the 15th Dahrendorf Lecture on “Europe in a Changing World” theme gathering representative of the academia and think tanks. The lecture’s subject was “Europe Faced with Two Wars”. This initiative aimed to reaffirm the EU-UK strong partnership as well as discuss regional challenges in security and defence.
