On 29 August 2024, Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, chaired the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Foreign Affairs in Brussels, Belgium.

The meeting started with a discussion on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, with the participation of Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian Minister for Foreign Affairs. The EU Ministers then exchanged views with Hakan Fidan, Turkish Minister for Foreign Affairs, on the state of play of EU-Türkiye relations and regional issues of shared interest. The meeting also focused on the humanitarian situation in the Middle East and on the political crisis in Venezuela.
