On 14 October 2024, Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, chaired the Foreign Affairs Council held in Luxembourg.
On this occasion, the Council discussed, notably, Russia's aggression against Ukraine, held an informal exchange of views with the UK’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, and examined the situation in the Middle East. In the context of current events, the Foreign Affairs Ministers discussed the elections in Georgia and Moldova, as well as the situation in the Horn of Africa and Venezuela.
