On 24 October 2024, Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of a stronger Europe in the World, attended the International Conference in Support of Lebanon’s People and Sovereignty, in Paris, France. 

The military confrontation between Hezbollah and Israel is the cause of an unacceptable number of civilian casualties and unbearable level of destruction across the country, making the situation of Lebanon – a country already affected by a multitude of crises – even more fragile.

The international conference was an important occasion to mobilise the urgent political and economic support to the Lebanese people and country’s sovereignty.
