On 8 November 2024, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, travelled to Budapest, Hungary, to participate in the the informal meeting of Heads of State or Government of the European Council, chaired by Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and hosted by Viktor Orbán, Hungarian Prime Minister. During the Informal Meeting, the leaders addressed topics such as the new European competitiveness deal, a new strategy for the Single Market, Savings and investment union, Industry, Regulatory framework, Defence industry and space, Research and innovation, Energy, Circular economy, Digital transformation, Social policies, Trade, Agriculture, Funding, and EU-US relations.
