FOREIGN AFFAIRS - Ukraine: Q&A
on the international agenda on Ukraine.
there are several statement of United States officials that they
could step back from its role,
their roles as mediator between Ukraine and Russia very soon.
In this case,
case,
if the United States were to step back from
its role as a mediator.
Would it be possible for the European Union or
individual EU Member States to assume that role?
Is the EU considering such a possibility when
the United States will leave negotiation negotiations?
Thank you.
Yes,
and where.
Thank you for the question.
At this stage we will not enter into any speculation,
but what we can say is that our priority
now that has always been the same,
is to ensure that Ukraine is in a position of strength.
We continue increasing our military support to Ukraine.
Member states have now committed €23 billion for this year,
and we have reached 2/3 of the goal in ammunition set for this year as well.
The stronger Ukraine is on the battlefield,
the stronger it will be at the negotiation
table,
and we do continue our diplomatic efforts at all levels,
at all times to support Ukraine,
to support its rights to defense,
and to support a long and just peace
for Ukraine,
that's the engagement that we have been having for over
3 years and that we will keep sticking to.
So this is our direction of travel.
Thank you.
And the more countries
obviously also including the US
uh can uh share this common objective,
the better,
the objective of strengthening
uh Ukraine.
Other questions to Anouar.
Yes.
